Linda began as a Creative Director at a very young age.
When not working with clients or on their projects, I can often be found in the garden at home, among my perennials, or at our family vacation home in north central Pennsylvania. Gardening allows me to work with color, pattern, and design, quietly, restoring my energy for working again with others later. I find much inspiration in the natural world, inspired by the Creator's sense of design and color.
I also love to sing, singing as an alto in my church choir, on my own, or with grandchildren. I see connections between music, and musicality of line and form.
I am a military daughter, wife, and mother of three, and now grandmother of three. Our family has always included a wide range of pets, currently two German Shepherds. So I do understand the design challenges of living with children, of safety concerns, and the need for many families to have child-safe, child-friendly, and pet-friendly interiors.
Other life experiences have shaped me as a designer. Moving every few years in a Marine Corps family as I was growing up enabled me to see the same furnishings rearranged many ways. As a result, I find I can easily rearrange a room in my head (though I'll often do it in a rendering for clients to see). And structural changes, while helpful for some homes, are not my passion: I love all the aspects which take the structure and transform it into your home- the art, the furnishings, the accessories, the color, and the fabrics. Applying the fabrics and details in a way which complements the form of the furniture, the flow of the room, and the personality of the owners, is a part of my design passion.
I also have lived in many regions of our country, not only in the mid-Atlantic Washington DC region, but in the Southwest, in California, Hawaii, Illinois, and New England. I have traveled in Asia and Europe, and lived in Germany for three years when my children were young. When I view a client's collections, or design preferences, or learn of their travels and history, I do understand the design context which shapes their point of view.
Now you know more about me. I look forward to learning more about you, in order to assist you with the transformations for your home which are right for you. The highest compliment a client paid me was to say, "Linda, I know you had a hand in it, but when I come home, it's me." I would wish that feeling for every client of mine.
