Interior and Exterior Color Transformation
in Oakton, VA
The owners of this home in Oakton, VA, over time, worked with Masterworks for paint color selection for the entire interior and exterior. For the exterior, the goal was to have the front brick slightly deeper than the siding, but compatible with the siding color, and to accent the bay window and shutters. The frame around the garage doors was also painted in the accent color, for balance across the front elevation, while the front door was kept lighter, similar to the garage door colors.

For the interiors, a range of colors was selected, based on the need to bring out architectural details, or to be most compatible with countertops, art, or other furnishings in each space. An accent wall color defines the entry area within the open floor plan at the kitchen. Rooms with crown moulding, such as the Kitchen and Primary Bedroom, were given a slightly deeper ceiling color, so that the whiter crown moulding would draw your eye up to the full height of the room. The built-ins of the Library needed contrast colors on the back walls as complements to the architecture, and in contrast to the collected items on the shelves, while the modern fireplace has a different wall color, as the focal point.
